Scholarship management:
The Nordhoff Parent Association kindly serves as the fiscal receiver for donations to this memorial scholarship and the application is available at the Nordhoff High School College and Career Center. Students complete the Center’s Universal application along with one additional personal statement. The deadline for applying is mid-March each year, and applications will be reviewed in April.
Laurie Slade will be the executor of the scholarship and will ask others to serve on the selection committee who can offer support and recommendations, particularly John Hoj as head of the Theatre Arts department at Nordhoff. Laurie will present the award to the scholarship winner at Senior Awards Night at Nordhoff High School in June of each year.
A perpetual plaque has been created for the John C. Slade Memorial Theatre Scholarship by Ventura Trophy, donated by Gai Jones. The plaque will be displayed in a special case outside the drama classroom, B4. Each year the names of the winners will be added to the plaque, hopefully inspiring future students to pursue their dreams of a career in the arts.
